CLEANING TOILETS
A short video filmed for the Star and Shadow Cinema’s crowdfunding campaign in 2016 - ‘What's happening with Star and Shadow Cinema?’ - provided an opportunity to talk about the overlap of love and labour in the most unlikely of places.
The Star and Shadow Cinema is an anarchic and 100% volunteer ran cinema and cultural centre based in Newcastle upon Tyne. There are no bosses or managers at the S&S, just working groups, collective meetings, consensus decision making and a heavy dose of healthy/messy disorganisation. The S&S programme is completely open and anyone willing to volunteer can put on a film screening, gig, meeting, talk or party, as long as they are willing to help run the place.
